8ctane Baseball Club

What is it?

A fun training method for youth baseball players throughout a full calendar year. The following will be included – access to our coaching staff, throwing, hitting, pitching, fielding, strength and conditioning, recovery and more. Players will have access to a program that will update with drills, throwing and hitting protocols, a throwing equation to ensure recovery, S&C in and off season. Remotely they will have access to our coaches and can expect a response time within 24-48 hours. Learning how to have FUN through learning proper mechanics and actions. In order to address each athlete individually we will start with our assessment process.

What is the assessment process?

The assessment process includes the following:

  • Our Arm Action + 3D model: each player will go under our microscope and we will perform our “MoCap” to see any and every bit of the throw down to the millisecond. This will allow us to formulate a plan from a throwing perspective.
  • Blast Motion Hitting Eval: Max Schrock our Director of Hitting will put the athlete through our Blast Sensor test to get the following metrics-bat speed, launch angle, exit velocity and more.
  • S&C + Athletic Screen Assessment: Athletes will be put on our proteus system to measure their overall athleticism and acceleration. This data will be used to put the best plan in place to work on inefficiencies in the weight room and beyond. We will also put our athletes on our force plates to measure overall peaks in power.
  • PT Mobility Assessment: Our PT’s at BYoung will check for anything that may be restricting the athletes so we can attack in our daily work.
  • Position Specific Eval: Our fundamentals eval will be done for whatever position the athlete is playing primarily. Catchers, infielders, outfielders all will have a test to see where we are at and how we can improve.

Why?

What players and parents do not fully understand is proper coaching, appropriate rest and recovery protocols, strength and conditioning in season and out of season. The main goal for this program is to create a one stop shop for all facets of training-to not only educate the kids, but coaches and parents alike. The plan is to break this up into 4 periods.

Spring

Feb-May: most youth athletes begin playing in the spring with tryouts in early February. Most of our players will be participating in their prospective little league programs. The goal during this period is to balance the workload, improve skills and learning, mental approach to the game, etc. tune ups in house are optional as our throwing equation will dictate workload.

Summer

May-August: The summer we see many teams begin all stars and or travel ball. For us we need to find the correct balance between being a kid and playing the sport. This phase is again balancing workload but also giving time for the kids to have FUN in other aspects of life. Deload and mandatory time off to make sure burn out is not happening.

Fall

August-November: School has begun. We have to be aware of added work, early morning wake up calls, and fall ball (if applicable). Most parents and coaches treat fall very differently and this is where it’s important for us to preach development, other sports movements, and more. This will lead us into the winter where true development and training can begin. We must treat this as an “on ramp” for the winter to begin more on the development side.

Winter

November-February: School is in session and this is where the players do not have to be on organized teams. Some orgs will have “showcases” when not knowing if there’s any proper ramp up, risking potential injuries. We must be aware of this beforehand. Scheduling with the parents so we can appropriately build the kids up SAFELY to be prepared for any winter showcase. We also have to keep in mind spring is around the corner. The main focus for these kids at this time is DEVELOPMENT, HEALTH, SKILL ACQUISITION AND PREPARATION FOR SPRING.

What else is included?

Players will have access to 2 total lessons for no added cost with Max Schrock and a Pitching instructor (one each). As well as one date dedicated to interacting with fellow athletes-which will be blocked off for 1.5 hours for a group practice. Younger athletes will be able to participate in throwing, hitting, S&C and a fun game at the end. Any added lessons will be at 75 dollar rate. Parents and coaches will have access to our ***Workload Monitor***. This is a unique algorithm that we have developed in house to measure overall workload and stress on our athletes. This will give our players the best chance to stay healthy.

We offer a REMOTE OPTION for those that cannot come into Raleigh or wish to only work virtually. All of the same stands, remote pricing will be $199 per month. Any lesson will be $75 and the option to come in for “Team” practice is included. Communication IS key, with access to a FaceTime meeting with one of our coaches once every two weeks.
